The backstay flicker is fitted on top of the headbox, and used to pull the backstay clear of the sail when gibing and taking. Make sure that the backstay flicker has enough clearance to move freely under the instrument brackets etc, when the backstay flicker is bent into sailing position! Drill holes for the straps. Apply water proof grease, Vaseline or \u003cbr\u003e anti-corrosive paste to the screws. Make sure that halyards and sheaves have enough space below the backstay flicker.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e4. Fit the timble to the backstay.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e5. Slide the backstay flicker into place.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e6. Fit the locking screw in the hole at the end of the backstay flicker.\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e7. Fit the line in and around the backstay flicker with running knots, (see fig. 4).\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e8. Fit the block with running knot around the timble, (see fig. 3).\u003c\/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e9.
