When selecting your Vang-Master, there are two primary considerations:
The length of the boom
- Longer or heavier booms require more pneumatic support from the vang. If your boom is long or heavy for the size boat, select the vang with a greater capacity
The weight of a fully battened mainsail
- Fully battened mainsails weigh more than conventional mains. If your main is fully battened, select the vang with greater capacity
Manufacturer part #: VM7
Vang-Master is stronger, lighter and more reliable than any vang on the market
Stronger
- No pop-rivets
- All pieces threaded together for extra strength and longevity
- Precision engineered parts from the finest materials
- Benefit: Durability and longevity
Lighter
- Constructed of 6061 T6 Aluminum
- No stainless steel used in vang construction
- Benefit: The lightest, strongest vang on the market today
More Reliable
- No squeaky springs to wear out
- Stainless steel springs loose memory over time and return force fades
- No messy hydraulic fluid spills
- All Harken block and tackle
- Adjustable air cylinder with pump to precisely match boom weight and return force
- Tubing and end-fittings are hard-coat anodized to resist oxidation
- Thousands of miles of testing on the water
- Benefit: A pleasure to use and tune
Convenient
- Vang return force is 100% adjustable
- Adjust the air cylinder by simply adding or subtracting air pressure (air pump included)
- Never replace springs or hydraulic fluid
- Do-it-yourself maintenance no need to send to the factory
- Benefit: Precise vang adjustments
Manufacturer part #: VM7
Vang-Master is a quality made product and should require little maintenance
Washing
- We recommend that you hose off your vang when washing your boat. Take care to spray the fittings and its block and tackle to remove dust or salt
Adding Air to Pneumatic Cylinder
- Vang-Master comes with its own air pump. The pump is used to either adjust the return force to meet your boat's needs, or to add more air
- To add air to the cylinder, simply affix the pump hose to the Schrader valve located at the base of the vang. Pump as you would a bicycle tire pump to achieve the appropriate pressure
Adjusting Vang Return Force
- To adjust return force, simply add or delete air from the pneumatic cylinder via the Schrader valve
- Quick Test: Fill the cylinder with air to desired pressure. Go to rear of boom, press down and check resistance. Adjust the return force pressure to suit your requirements
