Starting at age 10, most of his sailing life has been around dinghies and racing keelboats. Growing on the Caribbean, Rod learnt to deal with the elements of the tropics that affect sailboats rigs and hardware; this together with the lack of a reliable source for spares in that part of the worlds played a big role on teaching him how to solve issues with the available materials (usually just a bit more than our beloved Duct Tape).
Part of the boats that conform Rod's curriculum are: J/24, J/22, J/70, Henderson 30, Melges 32, Hobie 33, Farr 39 M/L, Soling, Hobie Cats, Sunfish, Laser, Laser II, Flying Scot, Viper 640, VX One Design, J/109 and several other IRC and PHRF boats less frequently sailed.
