Returns and Exchanges

Yes, we understand some parts are not what you were expecting, or they were too big or small for your deck. Not a problem! We want to make sure your experience with Vela Sailing Supply is as user-friendly as possible. You have 30 days from the day you receive your order to request an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization), and we’ll be glad to exchange the item or refund your credit card or PayPal account.

To streamline the process, please read all the information below, fill out the contact form, and wait for our email response. We'll get back to you on the next business day.

Merchandise Conditions

  • New (Unused)
  • In original packaging
  • Includes all labels and instructions from the manufacturer

Return and Exchange Period

You have 30 days from receipt to request an exchange or return.

Once the RMA is issued, items must be returned within 5 days. After that, the RMA will expire.

Special Situations

  • Customers in severe winter regions (e.g., New England, Great Lakes, Northern Europe): include a note when ordering, and we’ll allow returns outside the regular window as store credit.
  • Items shipped via freight (sailboats, masts, etc.) may incur restocking fees evaluated case by case. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility.

Non-Returnable Items

  • Labor, delivery and installation services
  • Gift certificates
  • Custom halyards, lifelines, cables, shrouds/stays
  • Replacement PVC Luff Extrusions
  • Used, damaged or incomplete items
  • Personalized or etched products
  • Used/worn sailing gear
  • Custom sails or sails with added numbers

Documents Needed for Return/Exchange

After your return request, we will email you an RMA number. Please include it clearly on your return package.

  • Send us the tracking number once the package ships.
  • Use traceable shipping. Vela Sailing Supply is not responsible for lost shipments.
  • Insure high-value returns. Damaged items will not be refunded.
  • Packages without an RMA will be refused and returned to sender.

Outbound shipping charges are non-refundable unless we shipped you the wrong item. A return shipping fee of $15–$25 may apply.

After 30 Days

Returns beyond 30 days may be accepted for store credit only. Restocking fees:

  • 18% for hardware
  • 20% for gear

Items must be new, unused, and complete with all packaging and documentation.

Refund Method

Refunds will be issued in the original payment method. We process refunds on the 15th and 30th of each month.
