A Seldén Rodkicker facilitates sail handling when reefing, preventing the boom from dropping into the cockpit or onto the coach roof. When fitted with a Seldén gas spring, it lifts the boom when the kicking strap is released. Excellent for trimming the main in light air. The Seldén Rodkicker also doubles the purchase of your kicking strap.

The rounded end-fitting, with enclosed sheave and recessed split pin, is designed to avoid snagging sails or crew.

Fit like a glove (on a J80)
was concerned considering this product was so much less than competitors....so much so that I kept putting off purchasing and even thought about stepping up to the next model. In the end (after reading and researching for way too long) I re-measured my XBH...was in range for this one. Bought this guy thinking certainly I'd have to shorten it or do something, but no, slipped right in place. Color me shocked. I thought as a retrofit it would certainly be a hair too long or short, but nope. Perfect. Now some will be installing this on a boat that maybe has never had a hydraulic "kicker" or boom vang and will be able to adjust the position of the boom fitting...obviously this will fit just fine as you'll be adjusting the upper fitting, but for those retrofitting or replacing a boom vang, if this doesn't fit perfectly (ie it's too long and holds your boom up way too high) it does seem fairly straightforward to modify its length...2 cuts of tube to make and 2 new holes to drill....if it was me, I'd want to make those with a nice chop saw with a metal cutting blade rather than a hacksaw as you'll want them to be nice and square, but in a pinch, they'll both be hidden inside the system so chop away. Sidenote: does not include any of the blocks (or line of course), but likely you'll have some of those from your old vang system...or not...just fyi.
