Optiparts battened hiking pants, made of a very durable polyester; each leg part has stiff polyester battens covered in closed cell foam to spread the pressure of the edge of the boat.
There are two Velcro straps on each leg which have elastic sections to increase comfort; the waist can be rolled over to adjust where the battens hit the leg. These hiking pants run big, so JS fits most youth and even some adult sailors, due to an adjustable Velcro belt.
