Allen Brothers Pivoting Mast Step with Cross BarAcetal Pivoting Mast Step
An evolution of our popular aluminium version, the Acetal Pivoting Mast Step delivers enhanced performance through refined engineering. Designed to provide smoother mast articulation and improved structural efficiency, it allows the mast heel to pivot freely promoting a more consistent and controlled mast bend profile. This results in optimised rig setup, superior sail shape, and reduced loading stresses across the deck.
The updated design takes performance a step further, offering several key advantages over traditional tenon-style mast steps:
Performance Advantages:
- Centralised Load Path – Compression loads are taken directly through the centre of the mast tube, eliminating adverse bend effects caused by offset compression in older tenon types.
- Superior Torsional Resistance – The design effectively resists twisting forces from the gooseneck, maintaining alignment and improving rig stability.
- Precise Spreader Geometry – Exceptional torsional stability ensures spreader settings remain accurate, even under dynamic sailing loads.
- Durable Round Bar Design – The stainless-steel round bar is highly resistant to wear. Any wear that does occur after several seasons can be easily corrected by replacing the heel plug.
- Optimised Vang Load Transfer – The main kicking strap (vang) loads are efficiently transmitted through the main tubular bar, maintaining consistent tension across the mast’s raking range.
- Customisable Fitment – The system can be easily configured for specific classes, with the option to add extra fixings if required.
Key Features:
- Stainless Steel Pivot Bar – Supports mast compression loads, provides the heel pivot point, and allows lines to be attached through the tube.
- Lightweight Acetal Construction – Offers a cost-effective yet durable alternative to aluminium, with excellent wear and impact resistance.
- Sloped Design – Prevents the jib from snagging during tacks for smoother manoeuvres.
- Halyard Access Hole – 7mm hole to route a halyard below deck if required.
