The Spinlock XCS Rope Clutch is designed for reliable mid- to high-load rope control in demanding sailing applications. Its durable alloy construction, secure cam system, and versatile mounting options make it an excellent choice for yachts, race boats, and installations where long-term strength and dependable line holding are essential.
XCS clutches are particularly well suited for mounting locations that require additional durability, including masts, spars, side decks, and coamings. They are available in multiple rope ranges, configurations, finishes, cam systems, and mounting orientations to suit different deck layouts and performance requirements.
Durable Construction
Aluminium side plates provide the strength required for sustained higher-load operation while maintaining a clean, professional appearance. Depending on the selected model, finishes may include white-coated alloy, black-anodized alloy, silver-polished alloy, or mirror-polished stainless-steel sides.
The extruded aluminium handle features a soft end grip for comfortable operation and locks securely in both the open and closed positions. Identification labels are supplied to help clearly mark each controlled line onboard.

Available Rope Ranges
XCS0610
Designed for 6–10 mm (1/4"–3/8") lines and optimized for best performance with 8–10 mm rope. This model is strongly recommended for high-strength, small-diameter lines and supports loads up to 700 kg (1,543 lb).
XCS0812 Lock-Open
Designed for 8–12 mm lines and equipped with a lock-open cam system on applicable variants. This configuration allows the rope to run freely in both directions while the handle remains closed.
XCS0814
Designed for 8–14 mm (5/16"–9/16") lines and recommended for the best overall performance across a broad rope-size range. Selected versions support loads up to 1,200 kg (2,640 lb).
XCS1214 Lock-Open
Designed for 12–14 mm lines and available with a lock-open cam on selected variants for controlled free-running operation.
XCS1216
Designed for 12–16 mm lines and applications requiring dependable control of larger-diameter rope.
Ceramic Cam and Base
Selected XCS models are available with a ceramic-coated cam and base. This upgraded system provides consistent holding performance and improved grip when used with modern, high-performance lines.
Ceramic cam versions are particularly useful in higher-load applications where dependable holding and reduced line movement are priorities.
Lock-Open Cam
Selected XCS/L models include a special lock-open cam function. When the lock is engaged, the line can run freely in both directions while the handle remains closed. Normal clutch operation can be restored whenever secure rope holding is required.
This feature is useful for applications where temporary free running is needed without leaving the clutch handle raised.
Side Mounting
Side mounting is often the cleanest installation solution for spars, masts, side decks, and coamings. Selected XCS models are available in horizontal port and starboard configurations, while optional side fairings and mounting kits are available separately.
